The TM550 is a passive infrared trail
monitor that detects the combination of body heat-and-motion in the area it is monitoring. The
area of sensitivity forms a wedge radiating outward in front of the monitor. This wedge is
65-ft. (20 m.) deep and spreads 150° wide. Any warm-blooded animal that moves within this
wedge will register as an event. The TM550 will store one event per "event
period" as long as the animal is moving within the area of sensitivity. By reviewing
the event times, you will know how long an animal is present in the area.
The new "Event delay" feature on the TM550
allows the user to select the duration of an event period. With older passive infrared
units the event delay was factory set to 1.0 minutes. With a 1.0 minute event delay, only
one event could be recorded per minute. The new adjustable Event delay on the TM550 allows
the user to adjust event periods from 0.1 (6.0 seconds) minutes to 2.0 minutes in 0.1
minute increments. With the Event delay set to 0.1 minutes the TM550 can record as many as
10 events in a single minute. This gives you the ability to adjust the operation of the
TM550 to meet your specific trail monitoring needs.
TM550 passive infrared monitor can store over 1000
events by date and time in non-volatile memory. The TM550 can store one event per event
period. The TM550 is very easy to use. Three push buttons on the front of the monitor
are used to control its many functions. The TIME SET button is used to set the initial
time and date functions in the same way a digital watch is set. The SET UP button is used
to verify the area in which body heat-and-movement is being sensed. Proper function is
indicated by a blinking red light when the unit is in the SET UP mode. The READ OUT
ADVance (R/O ADV) button is used when reading out the data. Subsequent depressions on the
R/O ADVance button will cause the date and time of each record event to be displayed in
the large digital display. All TrailMaster monitors are weatherproof and tested to work
from -40°F/-40°C to 130°F/55°C. The TM550 has an extended battery field-time of over
one year. It is the most compact infrared trail monitor available. The TM550 is a passive
infrared monitor; therefore, the range and sensitivity are not as well defined as its
active infrared counterparts, the TM1000 and the TM1500. Although it is not possible to be
game selective with passive infrared trail monitors, the TM550 is the most versatile passive
infrared monitor on the market and is a dependable way to monitor the entire 65 foot
(20 m..) area.
