I lossen the clamps and remove the equipment before driving the pipe in the ground. I don't have to rely on trees for attachments and it is much easier to set up. I use it with the 35mm camera kit and to date have been chasing whitetail deer and elk with that setup. I had looked long and hard at all the different types of trail monitoring systems before I settled on the Trailmaster system. It cost me a little more but I have been extremely happy with this product.Although my initial intent was to use the TM1500 for scouting hunting areas, I have turned it into a photography hobby for post hunting season. At the time of writing my camera is sitting near a private ranch back home. I called my friend yesterday (I'm in Hong Kong right now for Christmas) and my latest batch of photos has produced footage of a rather LARGE whitey buck. I can't wait to get home to see these! I invested in a new and improved TM1500(camera/printer adaptable)a few years ago. I also purchased the 35mm camera at the time and have filmed several fine Whitetail deer (including dancing does). The TM1500 has helped me pattern the deer movements prior to and during season, allowing me to cover more area during my hunts. (Caution, don't let the wife know about this trick). If I get the TM550 plus camera, it will cost me $470 ($180 plus $290).The buyckshot entire system is priced at $380. Thus, on a price basis, it is the better buy. With a bit of tape and some super glue it will be up and running in no time. Nevertheless I would like some tips to set the equipment up beter that it will not be charged by any animal again. Without interfering with the experiment! ANSWER- The most important thing to remember is that when you handle the TrailMaster you will leave human sent and if you are sweating you will leave salt deposits. Animals like salt, so if there is some available they will first lick it then they will bite it. This can be a real problem when you are dealing with elephants. KEEP THE UNIT CLEAN. You can easily clean the unit by wiping it off with rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohl is cheep and easy to use. This was a part of a biodiversity survey for a local NGO called the Tanzania Forets Conservation Group. One species was a duiker and another a dog mongoose which are both very hard to see normaly particulary in this area which is hunted alot. Another interesting species capured was a rare 100gm bushbaby endemic to the Eastern arc mountain forests of Tanzania. I went out to the woods one day and was upset that it was stolen. Eight months later you called and you inform me that you knew where the stolen unit was. That alone is worth a million thanks. That is the reason I have no problem ordering more TrailMaster units. (It seems most businesses would not have had the ability to track the unit nor would they have put forth the effort to call me.) Eight years ago I purchased my first TM1500 and have been very happy with this product. I have told many people about your good business ethics and how the TrailMaster timer works and the success I have had with this product. I hunt 45 minutes from my house and once a week (sometimes once every other day) I can check an area in midday to see what has moved through the area. Checking once a week saved me more money in gas than what one of these items cost. It also saves alot of scouting time. Last year for example I went to check on my TM1500 after having been put it out for one week and I found that I had and event at 4:00 p.m. daily. When I went hunting I made sure that I was in my stand very alert when the time came. It was a small buck, however, I wouldn\'t have been out there at that time or I wouldn\'t have been expecting a deer at that time. I have been very happy with this product and I am looking to order more because one is not enough. |
